President Sharon welcomed all to our first Club Zoom Meeting
Our sympathies to Rotarian Elaine Elliott on the tragic loss of her granddaughter Chelsea. Our sympathies also to Hobie and family on the loss of a family member to Covid 19, and our wishes for a recovery for your other family member who remains in hospital.
Thank you to all that voted online to make a donation to the Selkirk Food Bank. Our Club donated 2,500.00, the Rotary District Foundation donated 500.00, making our Club’s total $3,000.00. We also donated the remaining food from the NOW program, which Jean estimated was 500.00. Great job in supporting our community!
Ruth presented the Financial Statements. There were no questions related to the statements, but a HUGE thank you to Bill Bodman for all the work he still does for our Club with our Finances!
Ruth also reported we received $780.00 back from MUNA, $500.00 from scholarships and $500.00 for our donation to the Food Bank. She is still waiting for a refund for Adv. In Citizenzhip registration.
She has also paid $2,000.00 to Ripple Effect and $500.00 to Polio Plus.
Our Club has donated $500.00 U.S. to the Nepal Project. The Rotary Club of Winnipeg requested we contribute to this cause. It is for a Women’s project in Nepal, for battered and abused women. Matching grants from the Winnipeg Foundation are available, so our $500.00 became $1,000.00!!!!!!
District Conference is online on May 23, at a cost of $50.00 per person. President Sharon has registered and encourages others to do so.

A request from the District came in for our Club to do a video promoting ourselves……………Jean and Sharon will work with Hobie on this!
We received a Literacy Award.
Sharon and Jean met with the Selkirk Community Foundation to discuss a new project based on Vital Signs report.
One project that was looked at was tree planting in Selkirk. Jean had contacted the City of Selkirk in March regarding this project but they have never responded.
Another project was a Walkiing Trail in a new park in St Clements. Cost is approximately $75-80,000.00. we could do it over 2 – 3 years.
After general discussion, it was felt that perhaps we should not commit to a multi year project until we know the effects of the pandemic in our communities. Perhaps our fundraising efforts may have to change so it will be hard to determine how much money we could raise, and when we would be able to do something.
The Mural project – Jean advised that the Art Club will be having a draw for a dinner for 10 at Roxie’s. Tickets are $10.00 each, proceeds go to the mural on Packers, Roxies and 10% to the Food Bank. Jean will have tickets for sale.
The Club received 2 letters from the Selkirk Community Foundation, one approving our Grant for the NOW Program for $10,000.00 over a 2 year period, and a decline letter for our application on behalf of the Art Board for a grant for the Packers mural.
It was agreed that participation in a Zoom meeting would be $5.00 per person per meeting. Ruth and Lesli will look into etransfers for this.

May 11 – Next Zoom Meeting – All Club members invited!!!
