Greetings to all Rotarians and guests including honorary member Ashley Martyniw and guest speaker Mitch Tkatchuk, followed by supper.
Introduction of our guest speaker, Mitch Tkatchuk, of the Selkirk RCMP detachment. Mitch’s presentation included his own background as an RCMP officer and a general overview of the Selkirk and district that their detachment services. He spoke about the top priorities the detachment is focusing on. The presentation was followed by many questions.
Announcement of Rotary members and spouses birthdays and anniversary dates of members for the months of November and December.
Viva La Vino / Wine & Roses - There was a discussion about whether to have an in-person event in February or another raffle. After input from every member, it was overwhelmingly decided to do a raffle. Suggestions included not just wine/alcohol as a prize, but to include other types of prizes: gift cards for groceries, gas, etc.
International HIP Program – Selkirk is eligible to nominate one local student to participate in the 2024 event located in BC at no cost to the club. It was unanimously voted to select a student for this event.
Christmas Party – Al Curtis has accumulated the list of attendees for December 11th, 45 confirmed guests will be in attendance. Reminder to bring a silent auction prize for the evening.
Rotary International newsletter – There is an option to receive the newsletter electronically, rather than a physical copy mailed. Hobie Searles volunteered to include instructions on how to do this in the next Spoke newsletter.
