Mayor Debbie Fiebelkorn of the Rural Municipality of St. Clements
    • Mayor Debbie Fiebelkorn, our guest speaker on September 13, shared the five-year strategic plan, sharing the vision, values, and goals for the municipality. The major areas of focus were shared, which included the following:

      • Water Treatment Plant
      • Enhanced Sewer Service Project
      • Trails from Birds Hill to Grand Marais
      • Recreation
      • South St. Clements Activity Centre
      • Roads and Drainage
This council and administrative staff have continued to work hard planning for “Work, Live and Play” in St. Clements. Questions were asked regarding how Rotary could partner and help give back.

    • Guest Speaker: Dr. David Matear, CEO of Interlake Eastern Regional Health Authority (IERHA), was our guest speaker on September 27.
David started in the CEO position for the IERHA this past February. David spoke to Rotary of his background starting in Scotland and ending up here in Selkirk, Manitoba. With more than 30 years of experience in health care, David shared some experiences along the way illustrating his passion for collaborative, strategic and operational leadership in health care which involves community. Transformation and change management are passions of David’s and that’s why he was attracted to in Manitoba.

Diane Thomas receiving a Paul Harris Fellow award from Selkirk Rotary
Tonight the Rotary Club of Selkirk recognized Diane Thomas from the Selkirk Golf and Country Club upon receiving a prestigious Paul Harris Fellow Award! Many thanks to Diane for all of her hard work and support in making Selkirk a better place over the course of many years. Truly a special woman!

511 lbs of food garden produce donated to the Selkirk Food Bank and Our Daily Bread Soup Kitchen
511 LBS OF FOOD......is what the Rotary Club of Selkirk's garden produced this year! On Sunday, members of the Rotary club got together to clean up the last of the garden. Another 227lbs of vegetables was harvested by the group. We even got a visit from special guest star Matt Bialek of Red Bomb Fireworks who not only provided the garden plot for us, but ensured the water was topped up throughout the year! Thanks Matt!!! Today, a few of our Rotarians visited Cathy Moore at the Selkirk Food Bank and Beverly Terhorst at Our Daily Bread Soup Kitchen to deliver the veggies. What a wonderful time to be a Rotarian!

    THANK YOU!
    • To our garden volunteers and Red Bomb Fireworks! Bouquets to all those involved on a regular basis with the planting, watering, harvesting, and delivering the vegetable garden this past summer. Thanks to Jean, Doug & Marilyn, Sharon, David, Ron T., Norm & Carolyn, and Trish. The garden and those tending it, provided 511 pounds of food for Selkirk Food Bank and the Daily Soup Kitchen on behalf of Rotary. Thanks to Red Bomb for providing the garden plot and the water!

    • Our club has received three cheques from the Benevity Fund (related to David Thorne and through his work).
    • Congratulations to Shauna Curtin on becoming Chair and David Thorne on becoming Vice Chair of the Selkirk and District Community Foundation.

      The Rotarian - TheNationalRotarian-January1911 - Google Books
On August 8,1977 the Rotary Club held an informal meeting, on the occasion of the annual Steak Fry, in the Selkirk Park Agricultural Building. Guests included members of the Rotary Anns as well as 6 Japanese students and their teacher. The Japanese group had been visiting the area since August 1. They were hosted by the Selkirk and North Winnipeg clubs and some of their members and families were also present. The students performed various aspects of Japanese culture: a tea ceremony, Judo, abacus, calligraphy and dancing. Their teacher presented a slideshow of Japanese scenes and culture.
It was a most unusual and enjoyable evening for the club.
