On August 8,1977 the Rotary Club held an informal meeting, on the occasion of the annual Steak Fry, in the Selkirk Park Agricultural Building. Guests included members of the Rotary Anns as well as 6 Japanese students and their teacher. The Japanese group had been visiting the area since August 1. They were hosted by the Selkirk and North Winnipeg clubs and some of their members and families were also present. The students performed various aspects of Japanese culture: a tea ceremony, Judo, abacus, calligraphy and dancing. Their teacher presented a slideshow of Japanese scenes and culture.
It was a most unusual and enjoyable evening for the club.
