EXCERPTS FROM LAST MEETINGOur program on August 23 was Marine Museum and Fellowship and attendance was excellent! Welcome to all was proclaimed by President Thorne outside on the deck. It was so exciting to see so many Rotarians, Honorary Rotarians, a former member, and partners at tonight’s gathering. We sang O Canada and said the Rotary Grace for the first time in almost a year while outside! Then we moved in to enjoy a beautiful rib dinner with fresh cucumber salad and scalloped potatoes, with strawberry shortcake dessert from Diane at the Selkirk Golf and Country Club! After eating, President David introduced and acknowledged everyone in the room to provide our new members the opportunity to put names to faces. August and the beginning of September are busy times for birthdays and anniversaries in our Rotary family!! Lots of fines for individuals and couples. Special acknowledgement to the Russ and Theda Skalesky on their 68th wedding anniversary and to Doug and Marilyn Anderson and Jim and Betty Ann Gaynor on their 60th wedding anniversaries! Who’s who? A new game from our Sergeant-at-Arms, Rhonda, gave clues on one of our Rotarians. Tonight, Doug Anderson was highlighted. Marine Museum Manager, Shaylene Nordal, provided an update on the “state of affairs” of the Marine Museum. A movie production, “Time Cut” was recently shot on site. Grants were utilized and the Museum had the highest number of students hired for summer in history! A drive-through pancake breakfast was more successful than past traditional endeavours! The Halloween Haunt is in the plans for this October. Stay tuned for the Marine Museum’s 50th anniversary next year! Tickets are available for their 50/50 “Boatload of Cash” online or in person at the Museum. Rotarians were invited to view the latest exhibits of the Keenora. | The Rotary Club of Selkirk Vocational Service Award was presented to Shaylene Nordal by then-President Sharon Moolchan at the Selkirk Golf and Country Club on November 25, 2019 | | | President Dave welcoming the many Rotarians, Honorary Rotarians, a former member, and partners at our meeting at the Marine Museum |
