MEETING
Location change: Due to a tournament at Selkirk Golf Club, we are moving our meeting to Knox Church Hall, corner of Eveline & McLean.
Fellowship at 5:30, followed by meeting at 6:00.
President David will be sharing some ideas such as a new fee structure which may hopefully ensure the long term sustainability of the club. Very important topics that will generate a much needed discussion with ALL members.

Tour of the Royal Winnipeg Aviation Museum. Just recently opened, the Museum is receiving great reviews. Many of our members will remember Rotarian Burton Stewart who has donated his Tiger Moth aircraft to the Museum, so it has a special place for a Selkirk Rotary.
Bus transport: We have arranged for a Selkirk Transit bus to take us in to the Museum, leaving Selkirk at 5 and returning approximately 9pm. Seats are limited to 20 people, so get your seat booked! More information to come.
President David Thorne did the call to order at 6:00 p.m. and that was followed by O Canada, Rotary Grace, and Acknowledgement of Treaty Land Territory.
A warm welcome was then extended to all Rotarians, Honorary Rotarians, and Guests.
PROGRAM
Tonight’s program was a farewell to Doug Anderson and Ernie Benjamin who had honorary memberships bestowed upon them at this meeting. Thank you both for your contributions to Rotary - 51 years for Doug and 25 years for Ernie.
In lieu of our normal "Turnover" meeting, since President David is returning for his second term, the meeting was chosen to honor Doug and Ernie.

CLUB ITEMS
With this being the final meeting of this Rotary Year, there were several club items to cover.
They included:
Final update on Lobster on the Run: Rhonda provided the club a final report. A financial breakdown was previously mailed to all members. There was a significant cost increase in lobsters and shipping. Thank you to all volunteers. Profit is approximately $15,066.70. Will target for an in-person event or next year. President David thanked co-chairs Lesli and Rhonda.
Tri – S Rodeo Parade – July 15th – Looking for 7-8 Rotarians to volunteer to participate. Action item:Please let David Thorne know if you could participate.
Gimli /Selkirk Rotary Clubs joint meeting – Will be held August 8 at the Marine Museum. All members and honorary members are invited.
Rotary Garden – Jean shared that the garden is planted and now help is required with watering and weeding. Tomato cages or stakes to tie up 125 tomatoes are also needed. Doug has the key. Jean will send out information as help is required.
Book Sale – Ruth shared that in September the book sale will be held in the Ag barn in the Selkirk Park. Volunteers will be needed. Dates to be finalized in the future.
Aviation Museum Program: This tour on August 22 will include museum entry and a bus ride into city so there is no need to drive or park your car.
July Meetings – David shared that the first meeting, July 11 will be Rotary business and an important one for members to attend and the second one, July 25, will be membership survey results.
N.O.W. program – 2021/2022 results were compiled by Jean and Sharon. Both Rotarians had scheduled and organized N.O.W. all through the year. 4177 bags were produced from Oct. 1 – June 24. Many volunteers come weekly or biweekly to help fill the bags. Thank you to Jean and Sharon for continued leadership in this program.
Programs: We need suggestions for programs. Please e-mail Jean with your ideas.
Secretary Report: Michele shared correspondence received from the student who received the Rotary Award at the High School. Trish is presenting at Walter Whyte school tonight. David, Trish, and I will be presenting tomorrow night to grade 9 students. The names will be shared in the minutes once the evenings have been held.
Sergeant at Arms – Report from Rhonda included sharing birthdays, anniversaries, join dates of Rotarians and spouses.
Fun events of the evening:
Bottle draw – Jean and Ruth each won a bottle of wine.
Sensory Team games – Winners of the eye test- Bill and Gail Bodman, Ed and Shirley Markevich, Doug and Marilyn Anderson, and Ashley Martyniw.
Taste and Describe test – Had fun watching Ron and David taste and describe food blindfolded! Such good sports!
Best dressed couple – Fraser and Bev Stewart.

Waterers needed: If you are able to help with watering over the summer, please let Marilyn (in the month of July) or Jean know. This is a club project so everyone’s help is needed.

Robert Unik of Unikque Creations has partnered with Selkirk Rotary Club in order to offer raffle prizes to raise money to help Ukrainian refugees settle in Manitoba. Robert is a well-known wood carver who has donated five hand-carved pieces for the raffle.
