President Sharon reminded members:
The need to sign up for responsibilities for the upcoming Rotary year especially the Executive and Director roles.
District Governor Fred Wight will be presenting ideas about the benefits of engaging the community at the Jan 13, 2020 meeting
Rotarian Al provided an update on plans for the Dec 16th Christmas Party. Forty Six people are expected. The question was raised about where the funds from the Christmas draws will be donated. It was noted that last year’s funds were split between the Bear Clan Patrol and Rotary Foundation. After discussion a motion was passed to split the funds the same as last year.
Rotarian Hobie spoke about the advantages of having access to information available through Rotary’s Club Runner web site.
Rotarian Fraser introduced the Guest Speaker Bill Shead. Bill introduced his talk on Current Aboriginal Issues as giving a ‘Chance’ and ways that aboriginal development can be supported. He briefly summarized the history of treaties and legislation in Canada and the impact on First Nations and Canadian Society. He put it in local context speaking about the Peguis Selkirk Treaty and its effect on the Peguis First Nation. He described the Neeginan Centre in Winnipeg and the Indspire (formerly the National Aboriginal Achievement Foundation) as successful examples of how aboriginal development can be supported. Rotarian Ron thanked the Speaker on behalf of the Club.

- Michelle spoke about the Lord Selkirk School Division 2020 Aboriginal Graduation Ceremony. As this will be the 20th year of the event, a larger celebration than normal is being planned. She suggested the club might want to consider supporting the event.
