President's Message
As we close the door on 2021 we will open up new opportunities in 2022, Looking back at our accomplishments, the past year challenged us to think outside the box when fundraising. Instead of Wine and Roses, we saw Viva La Vino raise almost $5000 split between the Food Bank and Our Daily Bread Soup Kitchen. Our Rotarians ventured on a new garden project in cooperation with Red Bomb Fireworks. Together, despite a drought, we donated 511 pounds of fresh vegetables to our community. The most significant change was our traditional lobster dinner. Because of Covid-19, we were forced to do things differently. Our talented group of Rotarians organized a Lobster on the Run event that was hailed by all as a great success. These are just a few things that were going on in 2021. What does this all really mean? Together, working as one team, we can accomplish anything no matter the roadblocks we face.
2021 also saw our club welcome 5 new members. We are one of the few clubs in the District that has grown. Our Rotary family is a welcoming, warm organization, and one that continually puts service above self. I look forward to a break-out year in 2022. One that will see more new members, one that will look at more new projects here and abroad. A year that will hopefully put Covid-19 behind us for good and let us come back to full time meetings all of the time!
I want to wish everyone a healthy, prosperous New Year, and most of all, I want to thank you for your hard work and dedication to the Rotary Club of Selkirk.
Yours truly,
President David Thorne
