Jean then welcomed everyone. After the Acknowledgement of Treaty Land Territory, President Jean asked how we can do our part as Rotarians towards reconciliation for Indigenous People in this upcoming year. Sergeant at Arms: Rhonda reflected on the past year and asked those present to consider “What makes you happy?” “What is good in your life?” Many members shared their thoughts and we celebrated so many “positives” and joy for each other. Rhonda then shared all the birthdays and anniversaries. Doug Anderson has 50 years with Rotary! Great news all around! President’s Report: President Jean brought forward several items from the Executive meeting: Family Membership Fees – We have this membership listed in our constitution and bylaws, but never established a fee for dues.
Motion made by Sharon, Seconded by Elaine To set family membership at $200 for the first member and $100 for the second and remaining family members. The amount would change to reflect possible increases in subsequent years. Motion carried unanimously. Membership Dues and Rotarian Magazine – Treasurer Lesli shared the breakdown of where our money for our dues go:
$93 Rotary International dues per person $20 Club Runner dues per person $80 District 5550 dues per person $3.70 Emailed Rotary magazine or $21.60 Hard copy Rotary magazine $200 covers the cost for each member, but not with the mailed hard copy magazine. After discussion Motion made by Shauna, Seconded by Marcia Members are to choose whether they receive a hard copy or electronic version of the magazine. If a member chooses to receive a hard copy, their dues will increase to $220. Motion carried unanimously. Action: Each member will need to log into My Rotary on the Rotary International Website (myrotary.org) and change to electronic if that’s their choice. Your member number can be found on the magazine on the address label. If you are unsure of your number, check with Lesli. Honorary Membership - Acting secretary Michele shared an email. After 42 years of cherished memories and friendship, Rotarian Del Reid has made the difficult decision to focus on his health and step away as an active member and become a friend of the club effective July 1, 2021.
Motion made by Elaine, Seconded by Michele Del Reid be made an honorary member of the Selkirk Rotary Club. Motion carried unanimously. President Jean will be making arrangements to meet on the sidewalk or front lawn of Del’s in the future. Friend of Rotary and Paul Harris – President Jean shared the discussion of executive regarding the involvement and contributions of Diane Thomas with the NOW Program and Lobster on the Run.
Motion made by Rhonda, Seconded by Elaine Diane Thomas be made a Friend of Rotary and to be the recipient of a Paul Harris Award. Motion carried unanimously. President Jean shared the history and significance of the Paul Harris Award for our newer members. Peace Pole – Still working on it.

Card received from Joanie English – President of the Interlake Art Board thanking us for our donation. Inside was a tax receipt for our $500 donation.
