Last meeting
After another delicious dinner followed by dessert our meeting started at 6:42.
President Marcia reported on various:
- a short report on the District Conference held in May in Kenora and attended by Marcia, Sharon, Jean and Elaine.
the next District Conference will be the last weekend in May 2018.
- the next International Conference is in Toronto in June 2018
Secretary Lesli M was MIA (still celebrating her daughter's wedding on the weekend). Some members counted the assembly and arrive at 24 members present and no guests. No estimate of the % in attendance).
Treasurer Ruth K was also MIA. Her report for Assembly was read by President Marcia.
President Marcia then turned over the meeting to Gayle H who reported on the three FAM TALKS we had this year. She then had each table participate in group discussions and agree or disagree with various statements on the following:
- Our Mission and priorities for 2017-2020.
- Fundraising, How We Get
- Altruism, How We Give
- Membership
At 7:35 Ron K reported that October is Vocational Service Month. Nominations are required for persons we can recognize for their vocation. No one recognized last year because we had no nominations.
Elaine E reported on Rotary Foundation and told us we need to average $50 a member in annual donations to qualify to apply for a district grant.
Elaine questioned what happens to the fines collected; we use to turn them over to the Foundation?
Acting 50/50 Draw master, Ron C, reported that the Pot was now $72.00 or $73.50 (there was confusion as to what amount it is was). It didn't matter as Al C didn't draw the Ace of Spades.
Acting Sgt-at-Arms, Ron K (the good Ron), collected no fines because everyone worked hard at LobsterFest.
Bill B had prepared a detailed LobsterFest report for the meeting expecting members would be interested in how we made out but because of the late hour he declined to present the details and told everyone he had copies for them that they could pick up after the meeting. A shout arose from some members to at least know what the bottom line was. Bill then informed the assembly what the estimated Net Profit could be. (note: of 25 reports available, 14 were picked up).
President Marcia listed of the next five meetings and speakers in July to September.
We adjourned at 7:45
