President Sharon reported that she and Rotarian Jean attended a Brokenhead River Community Foundation recognition and fundraising evening in Beausejour on November 14. Rotarian Jean thanked them for their support and reported on the current status of Project Echo.
The bulk of the meeting dealt with Assembly and reports highlighting how we were dealing with our stated goals and priorities set in 2017 in “A Guide for our Future.”
Our number one priority is increasing our membership. Rotarian Cathy reported on the completion of the different membership categories, gathering materials for new member information and identifying possible members. She and Carole would like to have one other member on their committee.
An important aspect of finding new members is raising our public image. Rotarian Jean reported on the articles being written for The Record and other continuing initiatives. She spoke about the presenter, Paul K. Chappell who we helped to sponsor. He met with Junior and Senior High students at the Comprehensive on November 20. Rotarian Jean has submitted a report about the event.
President Sharon reported on service to the community. We had decided to use 2018 -2019 to discover our next big project. The Echo Project has not wrapped up yet and we are inviting community groups to speak at our meetings and inform us of their needs. To date we have had Inclusion Selkirk present their plans. In the mean time small “one off” projects such as the Shelter Box in Holiday Alley, and reading during I Love to Read month should help to raise our visibility.
We have also reviewed our club infrastructure by updating the Constitution and bylaws thanks to Rotarian Michele. She also completed a “Welcome to Our Rotary Family” booklet for new members. Rotarian Rhonda has enlarged the Sargent at Arms role and is adding new ideas and enthusiasm. Rotarian Brian and Rotarian Fraser have much experience providing us wit h our meeting programs. Rotarian Lee will be joining them and all are welcome to give them ideas to pursue.
Rotarian Ron won two tickets to the Christmas party with the winning poker hand.
Rotarians Kathryn and Marcia were awarded the tickets to Homes for the Holidays.
December 10 is our next Rotary Meeting and the Vocational Award will be presented.
